Dr. Kelly Lightfoot

Owner and Senior Veterinarian
Dr. Lightfoot was raised near Robsart Sk, and attended Notre Dame High School where he received a football scholarship to play in North Dakota. While in university, Kelly met the love of his life (Amy). He attended Veterinary School in Saskatoon (WCVM) and graduated and 1996. Kelly started his first job at the Assiniboia Veterinary Clinic and bought the practice in 1998. Kelly and Amy raised four children in Assiniboia and grew the practice to what it is today. In 2003 Kelly and Amy purchased a practice in Scobey Montana and Lightfoot Veterinary Services was born. Kelly has also co-authored several journal articles throughout the years. The latest published in the Canadian Veterinary Journal detailed a pharyngeal cleft cyst discovered by Lightfoot and his team. He has taught several calving classes for farmers at Southeast College and continues to host producer meetings helping local ranchers to keep up to date on vaccine and treatment protocols for cattle. Dr Lightfoot maintains memberships to the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association, Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, Montana State Veterinary Medical Association, and North Dakota State Veterinary Medical Association. In 2022, he also became a board member of the Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association and the Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association Disciplinary Committee. Dr. Lightfoot regularly demonstrates a passion for lifelong learning and continues to work closely with the specialists at WCVM.
Dr. Marshall McDonald
Associate Veterinarian
Dr Marshall McDonald was raised on a pure bred Charolais farm near Brookdale Mb. Marshall graduated high school and continued his education in Brandon Mb receiving a degree in Biology and Chemistry. He moved to Saskatoon to obtain an Animal Science Degree before, finally, being accepted to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation Dr. McDonald moved to Assiniboia and joined the team at the Assiniboia Veterinary Clinic. While working in Assiniboia Dr. McDonald was introduced to the love of his life Raylene, who also has a passion for pure bred cattle. Marshall and Raylene currently enjoy taking their son to visit their family farms and hope to instill their love for cattle and farming. Marshall continues to be a Bombers fan which has cause a few nights on the couch in the last few seasons and hopes his son will follow him in cheering for “winners”.
Dr. Courtney Stein
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Courtney Stein was raised on a small mixed farm near Preeceville Sk. She decided she was going to be a veterinarian at the age of five while boisterously helping her mom nurse all sorts of animals back to health. After finishing high school in Preeceville, Courtney moved to Saskatoon where she met her husband (Kyle). Courtney first studied geography at the University of Saskatchewan where she received a BASc. in Environment and Society graduating with High Honours. In 2011 she was accepted to the WCVM where she graduated with Distinction in 2015. Dr. Stein decided to move out to Assiniboia to work as a veterinarian after previously working for Dr. Lightfoot as a student. Courtney and Kyle have two small children and continue to love travel, hiking, and camping. When she isn’t in the clinic Dr. Stein can be found in her garden, crocheting or making crafts with her kids.
Dr. Genevieve Harvey
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Genevieve Harvey was born and raised right here in Assiniboia! Her love for animals started when she was very young always having dogs to cuddle in her home. Genevieve started her passion for veterinary medicine early on when she dedicated many hours volunteering with Dr. Lightfoot. Genevieve moved to Saskatoon where she began her pursuit of her DVM degree starting university in 2014 and entering veterinary school in 2016. During Veterinary school Genevieve found her love for cattle and roped herself a local cowboy Koen Moneo. Dr. Harvey graduated from WCVM in 2020; after graduation Dr. Harvey worked at Moose Jaw Animal Clinic until having her baby girl. Assiniboia Veterinary Clinic hired Dr. Harvey after her maternity leave. Genevieve, Koen and their daughter live near Wood Mountain Sk, where they enjoy ranching, horseback riding, and sharing their bed with 150 lb Mastiff.
Mia Turner
Registered Veterinary Technologist
Mia was raised near Wood Mountain Sk, on a large cattle ranch. She has always had a strong love of furry felines. After high school Mia went to Lakeland College in Vermilion Ab, achieving a diploma in Herd Heath technology. It was here that she met her husband Scott. Mia started working at the Assiniboia Veterinary Clinic in 2001 and while working obtained her diploma as a Registered Veterinary Technologist. One of Mia’s passions was watching her son grow up playing football. She also enjoys reading books and gardening.
Crystal Breault
Registered Veterinary Technologist
Crystal Breault was born and raised on a farm in the Assiniboia area always knowing that she wanted to work with animals. After graduating high school she attended Lakeland College in Vermillion Ab, where she attained a Registered Veterinary Technologist Diploma. After graduation Crystal completed her practicum at the Assiniboia Veterinary Clinic before taking a full time position at McCarthy Veterinary Services in Wawota Sk. After a brief stint in Wawota Crystal returned home to work for the Assiniboia Veterinary Clinic. Crystal met her husband Jason shortly after moving back to Assiniboia, they have two children and farm near Mossbank Sk. Crystal has worked for Dr. Lightfoot since 2004. In her spare time Crystal enjoys hunting with her two Karelian Bear Dogs, gardening, crocheting, listening to Elvis and attending classic car shows.
Leah Geis
Reception
Leah Geis was born and raised on a farm in the Mossbank area where she developed a love for animals. Leah became involved in horse sports from a young age. She started barrel racing at five years old on a horse named Rocky. After high school Leah trained colts, was a rider at Assiniboia Livestock Auction and waitressed at The Franklin. Leah joined the team at the Assiniboia Veterinary Clinic in 2019 and gained her certificate in Veterinary Assistance. Leah and her son enjoy barrel racing, watching hockey, and relaxing with her three dogs and cat.
